CEMETERY HISTORICAL DOCUMENTATION
My project is documentation of historical information recorded on at least 10,000 uploaded photos of cemetery monuments, headstones, and markers in support of the project Beneficiary, BillionGraves.com.

WHY CEMETERY HISTORICAL DOCUMENTATION?
Preserving the historical information in cemeteries ensures that seekers can trace their ancestors, research family history, and visit final resting places.
The purpose of my project enables me to provide a global community service, fulfill my commitment to that part of the Scout Oath which requires me "to help other people at all times," and gives me opportunity to plan, develop, and demonstrate leadership.
Every photo contributed to BillionGraves builds a public repository of globally searchable records for locating cemeteries, pinpointing gravesites, and tracking genealogy.

HOW IT BEGAN
WARFORDSBURG PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CEMETERY
AND
WARFORDSBURG PRESBYTERIAN CEMETERY ASSOCIATION
When the pandemic caused me to change my original project plan, I chose cemetery documentation for BillionGraves with the assistance of my grandfather and my mom. This project allows for compliance with all safety measures during the pandemic.

My original project proposal to BillionGraves focused on this cemetery at the Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church in Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania. It contains more than 400 burial sites. My maternal grandparents were married in the church in 1966, and many of my ancestors are buried there. However, the Beneficiary's need is photos, photos, photos! To meet the needs of BillionGraves, my project soon expanded to a goal of contributing at least 10,000 images!
